What this server can do
22 functions, named and described by the server itself. Parameter names are shown because they say more about what a function does than its name usually does.
clear_junk(workingDirectory)- Remove untracked files and directories from the working tree (git clean -fd). Returns list of removed paths.
find_changes(workingDirectory)- List changed files: staged, unstaged, and untracked. Returns file counts and paths by status group.
get_updates(remoteName, workingDirectory)- Fetch from remote and show incoming commits not yet in local branch. Returns count and commit summaries.
get_vault_status(workingDirectory)- Report current git credential helper configuration. Returns helper name and scope.
new_release(message, tagName, remoteName, workingDirectory)- Create an annotated git tag and push it to the remote. Returns the tag name and target commit SHA.
new_work_branch(branchName, workingDirectory)- Create a new branch from current HEAD and switch to it. Returns branch name and base commit SHA.
push(remoteName, workingDirectory)- Send already-committed work to the remote without making a new commit. Pushes the current branch; on a branch's first push, sets the remote branch as its upstream automatically.
reset_login(workingDirectory)- Clear stored git credentials by unsetting the credential helper in local git config. Returns confirmation.
restore_file(filePath, workingDirectory)- Restore a single file to its HEAD state, discarding uncommitted changes. Returns restored file path.
save_work(files, message, pushToRemote, workingDirectory)- Stage changes, commit with a message, and optionally push to remote. Returns commit SHA and push result.
search_history(limit, searchTerm, workingDirectory)- Search commit history for commits whose message matches a search term. Returns matching commits with SHA, author, date, and message.
set_ssh(sshUrl, remoteName, workingDirectory)- Change a remote URL to its SSH equivalent. Returns old and new remote URLs.
set_token(token, workingDirectory)- Store a personal access token for HTTP git authentication. Returns confirmation (token value is never echoed).
set_vault(vaultPath, workingDirectory)- Configure the git credential helper to use a specific vault path. Returns new credential helper value.
show_change(staged, filePath, workingDirectory)- Show the diff for a specific file or all changed files. Returns unified diff text.
show_diagnostic(workingDirectory)- Show git repository diagnostic info: current branch, upstream, HEAD SHA, remote URLs, and status summary.
show_history(limit, branchName, workingDirectory)- Show recent commit history. Returns commits with SHA, author, date, and message.
show_releases(workingDirectory)- List all tags/releases in the repository, newest first. Returns tag names, target SHAs, and annotation messages.
show_remote(workingDirectory)- Show all remote names and their fetch/push URLs. Returns list of remotes with URL and type.
switch_work(branchName, workingDirectory)- Switch to an existing branch. Returns the branch switched to and current HEAD SHA.
test_login(remoteName, workingDirectory)- Test whether git credentials are working by attempting ls-remote against the origin. Returns success/failure and remote refs count.
undo_changes(filePath, workingDirectory)- Discard uncommitted changes. If filePath given, restores that file; otherwise restores all tracked files. Returns list of restored paths.

Signals
These are separate measurements of different things. They are deliberately not combined into one score, because a popularity number that mixes website traffic with saves and stars cannot be checked or acted on.
| Signal | Value | What it measures | Window | Observed | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GitHub stars | 0 | Number of GitHub accounts that bookmarked this repository since it was created. It is a bookmark count, not installs, not active users and not quality. | cumulative, all time | GitHub | |
| Last commit | 2026-07-25 | Date of the most recent push to any branch. This is the strongest cheap indicator of whether the project is still maintained. | point in time | GitHub | |
| Open issues | 0 | Open issues plus open pull requests, as GitHub counts them together. A high number can mean an active project or an abandoned one. | as of fetch | GitHub | |
| Latest published version | 1.5.0 | Latest version string the maintainer published to the registry. | as of fetch | Model Context Protocol | |
| Registry record last updated | 2026-06-10 | When the registry record was last updated by its maintainer. | point in time | Model Context Protocol | |
| License | MPL-2.0 | Licence GitHub detected in the repository. Detection can be wrong; the LICENSE file is authoritative. | as of fetch | GitHub | |
| First listed in the MCP Registry | 2026-06-10 | Date this server was first published to the official MCP Registry. Not a usage or quality measure. | point in time | Model Context Protocol | |
| repository status | active | The repository exists on GitHub and is not archived. This says nothing about how recently it was worked on. | as of fetch | GitHub | |
| mcp tools declared | 22 tools | Number of functions the server itself declared when asked to list them. This is what the server offers an agent, not a measure of how well any of them work. | as of probe | giteasy-mcp.azurewebsites.net | |
| mcp endpoint status | ok | The server listed 22 functions when asked. | as of probe | giteasy-mcp.azurewebsites.net |
